Hope for the Holidays toys distributed by Salvation Army

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Through our 2024 Hope for the Holiday toy drive campaign, we collected more than 23,000 toys with donations still coming in. The toys will benefit 3,700 children.

Tuesday, the Salvation Army opened its first day of distribution for those gifts. Parents and guardians who have pre-registered get to shop around with volunteers and choose the present they want for their kids.

“Not all kids can understand at that young age that mom and dad are struggling and so this is a nice way our community comes together and still lets those children have that magic of believing in Santa,” Major Candy Fritsch with the Salvation Army said.

This year was 13 Action News’ 14th year doing the Hope for the Holidays Toy Drive. Since we first started, we have collected more than 348,000 toys thanks to the generosity of the community.
