Fremont City Schools staff member placed on leave, investigation underway

Fremont City Schools’ Superintendent said the district was made aware of the allegation Tuesday.

FREMONT, Ohio — An investigation with police involvement is underway into a Fremont City Schools staff member, according to the district.

District Superintendent Denice Hirt said in a press release Thursday that the staff member, who was not named, allegedly violated the district’s code of conduct. The staff member has since been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.

Hirt said the district said it is working closely the Fremont Police Department as a part of the investigation.

“As part of our commitment to ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all of our students and staff members, we take any concerns regarding staff conduct very seriously,” Hirt said in the release, which was also posted to Facebook. “While the District cannot comment on an ongoing investigation, we want to assure the public that appropriate steps are being taken to address the situation.”

Hirt also said the district was first made aware of the allegation on Tuesday.
