Former patients having issues getting records from old St. Luke’s hospital

MAUMEE, Ohio (WTVG) – Years after it closed its doors, some former patients are having issues with the old St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee.

It all centers on a procedure that’s already happened and they need details about it.

The bruising for Tiffin’s Joanne Hark was pretty severe when she left St. Luke’s after abdominal surgery in 2020. In fact, she returned for a second surgery.

“The pain just started. Excruciating pain. It was just very, very painful,” said Hark.

Fast forward to 2025 and some other health issues have arisen and now she needs something that’s normally minor, but there’s a hiccup.

“They will not give me an MRI because they said, ‘Did you get a card given to you when they put those coils in?’ No, I didn’t get a card,” said Hark

Hark did take her medical record with her after the surgery, but now she needs to surgery records. She’s tried over and over again with the group that used to run St. Luke’s at the end: McLaren Health Care.

“It’s a vicious circle. It’s like call this number. You call that number, do this, do that,” said Hark. “I assumed I had the medical records I needed at the time. I really did.”

A spokesman for McLaren said records are available, and there’s a link on its website where you can get an authorization form. A phone number is listed as well.

Things Hark will continue to try with the hope of finally getting what she needs and what others may need in the future.
