TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – The Martin Luther King Kitchen for the Poor just received $7,000 from Toledo Firefighter Union Local 92.
The kitchen was founded in 1969 by the Savage family and has been feeding the hungry in central Toledo ever since.
Wednesday, the kitchen received a financial boost to continue that mission they founded many years ago.
“We need it. Our services are expanding. We have so much going on, and it looks like we have more people in need,” Harvey Savage Jr., the executive director of the MLK Kitchen for the Poor, said.
The kitchen helps feed more than 35,000 people annually.
