Fayette Police on the lookout for Michigan man considered armed & dangerous

FAYETTE, Ohio (WTVG) – An alert for residents in the Village of Fayette: Be on the lookout for Garrett Beauchamp.

Police said Beauchamp is the ex-boyfriend of a woman who lives in this small Northwest Ohio town, and he’s wanted on a felony warrant for assault with a deadly weapon out of Michigan.

“She had been in fear for her life because she had threatened her,” said Ofc. Dave Schweinhagen with Fayette Police Department.

On Thanksgiving 2024, Fayette Police got a call from the Sheriff’s Office in Bay County, Michigan. Officers there wanted Fayette Police to check for Garrett Beauchamp at the home of his ex-girlfriend.

“So, a couple of our part-time officers that were on duty that day went to the residence. There were no vehicles at home at the time, and checked the residence and could not locate the person,” said Ofc. Schweinhagen.

Investigators in Bay County said Beauchamp was armed with a revolver and had stabbed the Fayette woman.

“Supposedly she was stabbed in the neck area and also threatened that way on top of the physical assault,” added Ofc. Schweinhagen.

The victim also showed officers a bullet hole in the wall inside her home. She told officers the suspect fired the shot days before the incident on Thanksgiving. She also asked for increased patrols outside her residence.

“Certainly, of course, being a small village, we drive past that residence numerous times in a day’s time, and we do have people also watching out for this young lady as well,” explained Ofc. Schweinhagen.

Now, police are on the lookout for Garrett Beauchamp, 37, who’s considered armed and dangerous. They said he could either be driving a black Chevy Silverado with the Michigan Plate EAT343 or a 2015 White Kia Optima with the Michigan Plate EUK6174.

If you spot him, officers are telling you to not approach him because he’s considered armed & dangerous. Instead, call 911.
