TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Family, friends, and community supporters are rallying around the Courington family in support of Dakota Courington, a teen victim in a hit and run back in August 2024.
The family is advocating for the suspect Felisha Madison to get the maximum sentence. Madison is charged with felony leaving the scene of the accident. She could serve five years in prison and pay a fine of up to five thousand dollars.
“Dakota has to live like this the rest of his life. Dakota deserves support, and he deserves to see somebody serve for this,” Dakota’s aunt, Kimberly Courington said.
The rally lasted for hours. Both of Dakota’s parents were there. They want to make sure this case gets the attention it needs.
“They need to prosecute her and hold her accountable for what she’s done,” Dakota’s father, Jack Courington said.
Those who attended the rally chanted ‘Justice for Dakota” and “Dakota Strong” for hours. Adesa Seymore is the family member that organized the rally. She stressed the importance of supporting Dakota during his recovery, and thanked the community for opening it’s arms to the family.
“He needs us. He needs the community. We are here for support you know and we just want justice served for an amazing kid that didn’t deserve this,” Seymore said.
The next court hearing for Felisha Madison is September 23rd. She’s currently out on a 10,000 dollar bond.
