TOLEDO, Ohio — A sheriff’s deputy was injured and a suspect arrested following an incident Thursday at Toledo Municipal Court.
A woman who had been summoned to court was about to be taken into custody when she decided to flee, Lucas County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Matt Leutke told WTOL 11. The suspect fled to the judge’s parking area, a gated lot outside the court, and was tased by authorities.
The suspect, identified by a court administrator as 33-year-old Kara Rose, was successfully taken into custody after being tased. Rose was appearing in court on three charges: two for theft and one for failing to stop after an incident.
During the incident, a deputy was injured. Leutke did not disclose further details regarding the extent of the deputy’s injuries. The injured deputy was transported to the hospital, a Toledo Fire spokesperson said. It is unclear how the deputy may have been injured and the deputy’s current condition is unknown.
The identity of the deputy has not yet been released.
