TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A number of people have filed complaints with the Ohio Attorney General about what they call a shady contractor. Riverbend Contractors has at least six complaints filed against it.
The business is located in Weston.
Ian Sood said his parents thought they had hired the right guy to build a barn.
“Feb. 10, we put a deposit of $22,500 down. Better Business Bureau that had good reviews. Google reviews were good. We had even known someone that had work done by him. They vouched for him,” said Ian Sood.
He says it was all downhill from there. He said the owner of Riverbend Contractors out of Weston never finished the project.
He showed us the damage to his parents’ yard.
“He drilled right around 32 holes that are 2 feet wide and about 5 feet deep and that was the last that we had seen him or heard from him,” said Sood.
The holes are filled with water.
Sood’s parents aren’t the only victims.
According to the Ohio Attorney General’s website, six people have filed complaints against the business owner.
The contractor is accused of poor service, shoddy work and failure to deliver product or service.
One client’s daughter provided me with the attorney general’s documentation.
The complaints add up, alleging that the owner collected more than $144,000 from clients.
One couple filed a civil suit in Wood County court against the business and its owner, Cody Jennings
The court documents claim they gave Cody Jennings a total of $148,000 in two payments and Jennings did not to complete the work.”
“I don’t know how somebody could do this to somebody else,” said Sood.
13 Action News reached out to Cody Jennings, but has yet to hear back from him.
A former employee claims Jennings closed the business and hasn’t paid employees either.
