TOLEDO, Ohio — ConnecToledo, in partnership with the Downtown Toledo Improvement District (DTID), will host its first Uptown Clean-Up Day on Friday, inviting residents and community members to help beautify the Uptown District by collecting litter, recycling and conducting outreach to unsheltered citizens.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to noon, and volunteers will gather at Uptown Green at 1904 Madison Avenue. ConnecToledo said it will provide gloves, vests, trash bags and other supplies.
Organizers said the event aims to build community engagement and establish a core volunteer group ahead of Uptown joining ConnecToledo’s special improvement district (SID) expansion on Jan. 1. Organizers plan to use this event as a model for future clean-ups throughout the SID.
“Uptown Clean-Up Day is a chance for residents, organizations, and local leaders to come together and make a visible impact in our community,” said Ash Layman, director of marketing and events for ConnecToledo. “We’re excited to engage volunteers in Uptown and build momentum for expanded clean-up efforts throughout the SID next year.”
Organizers said volunteers of all ages are welcome. To sign up for the event on Eventbrite, click HERE.
