The city says it hopes to reduce blight in the area through the event.
TOLEDO, Ohio — The city of Toledo is hosting an urban beautification event in west Toledo’s Willys neighborhood in an effort to reduce blight this coming Saturday.
According to a press release, the city’s urban beautification division will work with the community to pickup unwanted items from residences. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
If you live in the Willys neighborhood, which is the area within the boundaries of Jackman Road, West Sylvania Avenue and Hillcrest Avenue, you can place certain items on your curb for pickup. They include the following:
- Bulky items (Furniture and wood)
- Small appliances, televisions and computers
- Green waste items (large branches, debris, overgrowth)
- Mattresses
Hazardous waste items will not be picked up.
The city said residents cannot make prior arrangements to schedule a pick-up for the event, and if crews aren’t able to complete a pickup on Saturday, they will return to pick them up on Sunday. Residents should keep objects on their curb for pickup that day.
If you live in Willys neighborhood, you’ll see signs around your neighborhood ahead of the pickup day.
