TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – The 5th annual Anthony Dia Christmas Cruz is happening this weekend.
According to organizers, this event is held in honor of fallen Toledo Police officer Anthony Dia and his dedication to helping children and pets in the community.
The event will take place on Dec. 15 and will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Wheelin on the Rocks located at 2640 W. Laskey Road. Attendees can enjoy juice, cookies and gifts while meeting Santa and friends.
Organizers say the main event, the tow truck parade, will start at 7:30 p.m. Under police escort, the parade will leave from Wheelin on the Rocks and head towards the ProMedica Russell J Ebeid Children’s Hospital.
“The children in the hospital press their faces against the glass, their excitement palpable as the parade of lights from the tow trucks circle around the hospital,” said organizers, “Santa, his friends and his famous Christmas sleigh make their appearance at the tail end of the parade.”
Organizers also encourage attendees to bring new, unwrapped toys for the children at the hospital and/or pet supplies to help support the Lucas County Pit Crew. The toys and supplies will be delivered to the children and pets on Dec. 23.
