A 42-year-old man from Indiana died while another person suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
PORTAGE, Ohio — One person is dead and another injured after a two-vehicle crash Monday night in Wood County.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened at 10:11 p.m. at the intersection of South Dixie Highway and Defiance Pike near Portage.
A Ford F-350 was traveling south on South Dixie Highway when it struck a Lincoln Town Car that was heading west on Defiance Pike, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators say the Lincoln failed to stop or yield at the intersection and was struck on the passenger side by the Ford.
The driver of the Lincoln, 42-year-old Dane Knapp Sr. of Auburn, Indiana, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A female passenger in the Ford truck was taken to Wood County Hospital with injuries that were said to not be life-threatening. The Ford’s driver, a man from North Baltimore, was not reported to be injured.
Mid-County 120 EMS, Weston EMS and Central Joint Fire assisted at the scene.
The sheriff’s office said the crash remains under investigation.
