Lenawee County deputies say a 68-year-old Ida woman died after the crash at Stearns Highway and McMahon Road on Saturday.
LENAWEE COUNTY, Mich. — A woman is dead and two drivers seriously injured following a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Deerfield Township.
Lenawee County deputies said the crash happened around 11:37 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Stearns Highway and McMahon Road in Deerfield Township.
A 69-year-old man and his passenger, a 68-year-old woman from Ida, were traveling southbound on Stearns Highway in a Volkswagen Atlas when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign, investigators said. Their vehicle was struck by a Chevrolet Traverse traveling east on McMahon Road.
The Traverse was driven by a 42-year-old woman from Deerfield.
The 68-year-old passenger in the Volkswagen died at the hospital, deputies said. The other two drivers were hospitalized with serious injuries.
All occupants were wearing seatbelts. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the county drone team, the accident investigation team, Deerfield Township Fire Department, Madison Township Fire Department, Blissfield Township Fire Department, Adrian City Fire Department and Summerfield Fire Department in Monroe County.
