Famke Janssen Hasn’t Heard From Disney About Bringing Jean Grey To MCU

After 25 years, Famke Janssen is still synonymous with the X-Men character of Jean Grey, and she’s still waiting for her invitation to join the MCU.

Despite several of her co-stars reuniting for Avengers: Doomsday, the actress revealed she’s “never ever” spoken to Disney about potentially bringing back her mutant with psionic powers.

“Every time I do an interview, it’s mentioned. It’s interesting,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “I didn’t realize that was such a big part. Every interview I do, that will come up, and of everything I say, that is going to be the only thing that’s gonna be printed.”

Janssen continued, “I should be flattered, I suppose, that this character has resonated with people. It’s been so long, but it’s nice that people are still talking about her. I’m sure every single time there’s a new movie that they’re doing… it’ll come up again.”

Following her last appearance as Jean Grey in X: Men: Days of Future Past (2014), Janssen’s franchise co-stars Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), James Marsden (Cyclops), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Kelsey Grammer (Beast) and Channing Tatum (Gambit) have signed on to reprise their roles in Avengers: Doomsday, premiering Dec. 18, 2026.

Director Jake Schreier, who is helming Marvel StudiosX-Men reboot recently gave an update. “I can’t say anything about it, but we’ve started work on X-Men, and that’s obviously very, very exciting,” he told Empire in August.
