TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Changes are on the way at GM – Toledo Propulsion Systems to add capacity to support propulsion units for internal combustion engine (ICE) products, a message from the plant director said.
The message said workers will begin to see electric drive unit production phase/line 1 removed to make space for installation and tooling for more AB1V units, which powers their truck portfolio. It added that there aren’t any new details for the electric drive unit production line 2, but the decision on that front will depend on customer demand.
The message said leadership made the change to “align with current market demand and manufacturing needs.”
“I appreciate your continued patience and flexibility in this dynamic environment and look forward to sharing more updates as information becomes available,” the note from Plant Director Rob Morris read.
Additional information was not immediately available. Check back for more detail when we learn more.
