The former student claimed in an educator misconduct form that the teacher brought her to his house for sex in the months after she graduated.
PERRYSBURG, Ohio — The employment contract for a Perrysburg High School (PHS) intervention specialist will not be renewed after he allegedly had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a former Maumee High School (MHS) student, where the instructor had previously worked.Â
WTOL 11 obtained the personnel file of Taylor Rogers from PHS. According to the file, Taylor Rogers was most recently employed as an intervention specialist at PHS. In October 2024, a former student reported an “inappropriate sexual relationship” with Rogers, whom she had met when he taught at MHS years prior.Â
In the educator misconduct reporting form, the student said the sexual encounter occurred in the six months after she graduated. Though an incident date was not provided in the file, Rogers’ attached resume, as well as letters of recommendation from former coworkers, indicate he worked as a long-term substitute at MHS between March and June 2017.Â
In the report, the student claimed Rogers would ask her to come to his classroom during the lunch hour, and that the two would sit at his desk and talk. While the student said the conversations were not inappropriate, they were personal in nature.Â
According to the report, Rogers also provided the student with his personal email and stepped out of his classroom to hug her on the last day of the school year.Â
The former student then said she contacted Rogers on a social media app to say hello in October 2018. According to the student, Rogers replied and the exchange became flirtatious “very fast.” The student also claimed Rogers told her he “always thought [she] was so sexy” and “couldn’t stop looking at [her] in class when [she] would wear leggings.”Â
Rogers then told the student she could not tell anyone about the things he said because he would get in trouble.Â
The student said Rogers invited her over to his house to have sex. According to the report, he picked her up from a friend’s house, drove her to his house where they allegedly had sex and then drove her back to the friend’s house. The student said she was 18 years old at the time of the incident.Â
“I worry that he could be doing the same type of grooming behaviors to girls now,” the student wrote in the report.Â
In a January 2024 rebuttal of the claims in his personnel file, Rogers claimed the lunch meeting with the student occurred only once on the last day of school, and offered to be a reference for her for future employment. He also claimed he never had physical contact with her, did not have a sexual relationship with her and was never attracted to her.Â
Rogers also claimed the social media conversation with the student did get inappropriate. He said he blocked her once it became inappropriate and did not speak to her again after that.Â
On March 18, 2025, PHS placed Rogers on paid administrative leave. On April 8, the administration informed Rogers his employment contract would not be renewed at the end of the school year. The subject will appear on the April 21, 2025 Board of Education meeting for approval, the district said in a letter to Rogers.Â
According to Rogers’ resume, which is included in his personnel file, he served as a long-term substitute at both Perrysburg Junior High School and MHS in 2017, and coached football and track at Perrysburg Junior High.Â
Rogers has worked at Perrysburg High School as an intervention specialist since at least the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, according to his personnel file.Â
