COLUMBUS, Ohio – Five members of the Ohio State men’s and women’s fencing teams claimed gold medals at the 2025 Central Collegiate Fencing Conference championships Sunday in Detroit. The women won all three events – Dasha Myroniuk earned her third CCFC title, while Gloria Klughardt and Natalia Botello both captured championships in their first conference meet. Nolan Williams and Justin Vogler were men’s gold medalists. In all, 22 Buckeyes finished in the Top 8 of their respective weapons.
Saturday, the Buckeye men captured their fifth CCFC team title in a row and the women won their fourth crown and third outright since the league’s inaugural season in 2021. The men won all three weapon squad championships and the women captured the foil crown.
Women’s Sabre
Natalia Botello won the women’s sabre title in her first CCFC individual event, downing three fencers from Northwestern in the direct elimination table. She entered the table as the No. 4t seed. In the first round she allowed just four touches vs. the No. 4t seed. Botello then topped the No. 8 seed in the semifinals, 15-9, and in the final, the Buckeye defeated the No. 3 seed by the same score.
Arlow Wiggers finished eighth in the event. She was the No. 6 seed after pools and fell in her first bout to the No. 3 seed, 15-10.

Women’s Foil
Dasha Myroniuk won her third consecutive women’s foil crown. She was the No. 6 seed entering the direct elimination table, downing the No. 3 seed from Northwestern in the Table of 8, 15-13, and then posting a 15-11 victory over the No. 7 seed from Denison. In the final, Myroniuk prevailed over No. 5 seed Daphne Chan of Northwestern, 15-9.

Women’s Epee
Gloria Klughardt captured the women’s epee title in her first CCFC Championships. The No. 2 seed after pools, she prevailed 15-7 in the Table of 8 over the No. 7 seed from Northwestern and then downed the No. 6 seed from Cleveland State, 15-5. In the final, Klughardt won by one touch (15-14) over Wayne State’s Reka Galfalvy, who was the No. 8 seed.

After a medical default in the first round from Buckeye Avin Rai, the No. 6 seed, Williams defeated his teammate Kelly Liu, the No. 2 seed, 15-10, in the semifinals. Williams downed Wayne State’s Zeyad Nofal, the No. 1 seed after pools, 15-10, in the final.
Liu prevailed by one touch over Buckeye Hank Bauer, the No. 7 seed, in the Table of 8. In another Buckeye battle, No. 4 seed Samuel Rightler downed No. 5 Eddie Maklin in the first round by a touch (15-14). Rightler then fell to Nofal, 15-13, in the semifinals.

The men’s foil elimination table had seven Buckeyes, who earned the top seven final places. Justin Vogler and Lorenzo Mion tied for the No. 1 seed out of pools and Vogler went on to win the championship. Vogler defeated the No. 8 seed from Wayne State in the first round, 15-9, before defeating teammate and No. 5 seed Isaac Ariza in the semifinals, 15-6. In the final, Vogler prevailed over his teammate Solin Li, the No. 7 seed, 15-4.
Li was a 15-7 winner over Mion in the Table of 8 and then downed teammate Ilya Ayupov, the No. 6 seed, in the semifinals, 15-9. Ayupov defeated Buckeye and No. 3 seed Samuel Freedman by one touch (15-14) in the opening round. Ariza was a 15-13 winner over fellow Buckeye and No. 4 seed Mitchell Huth in the first round.

Miles Weiss, the No. 4 seed, tied for third, with a 12-11 win over his teammate Viktor Kulcsar, the No. 5 seed, in the first round before a loss to the eventual champion, 15-11, in the semifinals. Ayush Shah was the No. 2 seed out of pools but fell, 15-12, to a No. 7t seed from Cleveland State in the opening round. Gabriel Feinberg was a No. 7t seed and lost to Elsayed, 15-9, in his first elimination bout.
