Body found in Hocking River in Lancaster

Police and the Fairfield County Coroner’s Officer are now investigating the death.

LANCASTER, Ohio — The Lancaster Police Department identified the 46-year-old man they say was found dead in the Hocking River Saturday afternoon.

Officers were alerted around 2:10 p.m. that an unidentified body was floating in the Hocking River near the 400 block of West Sixth Avenue.

Officers and the Lancaster Fire Department arrived in the area and confirmed that a male was dead in the river. Police identified the man as Michael Evans Jr., of Lancaster.

Police and the Fairfield County Coroner’s Officer are now investigating the death. No additional information was provided.
