CLEVELAND, Ohio – Toledo freshman Jacklynka Scholten was tabbed as the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Singles Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Scholten went undefeated on the No. 3 singles court this weekend as the Rockets took on West Virginia and Temple in Morgantown, W. Va. The freshman took down both of her opponents in straight sets as she recorded a 6-2, 6-3 win over Temple’s Marianthi Christoforidou to help Toledo claim a 5-0 victory over the Owls. Scholten took a 6-1, 7-6 (7-5) victory over West Virginia’s Maja Dodik on Saturday to claim the lone point for the Rockets.
Scholten is undefeated in singles play through her freshman campaign, 6-0, and also claimed a win on the No. 1 doubles court over Temple this weekend. This marks Scholten’s first conference honor of her career.
Toledo will continue its road trip, heading to Chicago to take on UIC on Friday, Feb. 21 at 12:00 p.m. and the University of Chicago on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 2:00 p.m.
