Fremont City Schools employee under investigation, placed on leave

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A local school employee is on leave amid an investigation into their conduct.

A message from Fremont City Schools Superintendent Denice Hirt on Wednesday confirmed the staff member is now on administrative leave. The district did not disclose what role within the district the employee in question holds.

The message said the Superintendent found out about an alleged violation of the district’s code of conduct on Tuesday. The staffer, who was not named, was placed on administrative leave amid an investigation that includes working with the local police department “to ensure the safety of all staff and students.”

The nature of the alleged conduct is unclear. The message added that school officials are not able to discuss the matter while the investigation is ongoing.

“As part of our commitment to ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all of our students and staff members, we take any concerns regarding staff conduct very seriously,” a statement from Hirt on Thursday read. “While the District cannot comment on an ongoing investigation, we want to assure the public that appropriate steps are being taken to address the situation. The District’s highest priority is, and always will be, the safety and well-being of our students and staff members.”
