Human remains exposed from ‘heavy rain and erosion’ in Ottawa County, sheriff says

OTTAWA COUNTY, Ohio (WTVG) – Human remains discovered in Ottawa County were exposed from heavy rain and erosion, authorities in Ottawa County said.

A statement from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said someone called in to report they found what they thought were human remains in Harris Township around 11:45 a.m. on Oct. 8.

One of the responding deputies found several bones in the area. Officials said in a statement on Thursday that the area was determined to be a cemetery and that the bones were exposed from “heavy rain and erosion.”

The coroner’s office responded to the scene and is now handling the matter, the sheriff’s office said.
