Buckeyes Fire 4688 in Road Opener at Nebraska



COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State rifle team fired an aggregate score of 4688 at Nebraska (4729) on Saturday in Lincoln, Neb.

In smallbore, the team fired a season best 2328 led by solid performances by both Lilly Warren and Ella Sprague who both fired scores of 585. Mackenzie Pruden and John Hamilton both fired 579s while Riley Dunn (571) rounded out team scoring for Ohio State. Paige Hollowell fired a 580 to lead individual scoring while Andrew Duross (566) also fired as an individual for the Buckeyes.

In air rifle, Ohio State posed a team score of 2360 led by Mackenzie Pruden who fired a 592. She was followed by John Hamilton and Ella Sprague who both fired scores of 590 while Paige Hollowell (588) and Lilly Warren (585) rounded out team scoring. Riley Dunn fired a season best 585 and Andrew Duross posted a 584 to round out Ohio State’s individual scorers.

Coach Tanoue: “The first road match of the season is always a challenge, and the team did a great job of handling everything that came their way over the weekend. Performance wise this week was a step forward from last week and there are definitely things to work on and improvements to make in the coming weeks before we get to our next home match and trip to Alaska in a few weeks.”

Ohio State returns to action October 11 in a home match at the Hugh W. Wylie Range in Converse Hall with Memphis and Kentucky.
