Ohio State Travels to Wright State’s Beavercreek Invitational



COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team (1-3) will compete in the Tru by Hilton Beavercreek Invitational this weekend, hosted by Wright State. The Buckeyes will face Ohio (2-4) on Friday at 3 p.m. and Wright State (3-2) on Saturday at 5 p.m. The match against Wright State will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
           
BUCKEYE PREVIEW

  • Ohio State opened its home schedule with its first ranked match of the season, falling in three sets (23-25, 20-25, 14-25) to No. 12 Florida.
  • Junior transfer Hannah Jones led the Buckeye offense with 12 kills, while sophomore Olivia Hasbrook totaled a team-high 11 digs to lead the back row. Junior Mia Tuman recorded 25 assists.
  • This season, Jones is averaging a team-high 3.86 kills/set and 4.11 points/set, while Hasbrook is averaging 3.07 digs/set and Tuman is averaging 9.43 assists/set.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS

  • Ohio enters the weekend with a 2-4 record after beating Chattanooga and losing to Cincinnati and Jacksonville State last weekend in Chattanooga.
  • The Bobcat offense features four players averaging at least 2.00 kills/set, led by Mady Long’s 3.72 kills/set.
  • Defensively, three Bobcats average at least 2.00 digs/set with Kendall Hickey’s 2.57 digs/set leading the way.

HISTORY WITH OHIO

  • Ohio State leads 15-2 in the all-time series against Ohio and has a 3-1 edge against the Bobcats at neutral sites.
  • The teams last played on Aug. 25, 2018 in Columbus when the Buckeyes earned a win in three sets (25-14, 25-22, 25-11).
  • The teams most recently met at a neutral site on Sept. 13, 2024 at Xavier when the Buckeyes lost a close four-set match (26-28, 22-25, 26-24, 21-25).

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS

  • Wright State enters the weekend with a 3-2 record after losing to No. 1 Nebraska and beating California last weekend in Lincoln.
  • Mya Ayro leads the Raider offense with 4.10 kills/set, while Taygan Corstange leads the back row defense with 2.86 digs/set.

HISTORY WITH WRIGHT STATE

  • Ohio State leads 9-2 in the all-time series against Wright State and is 4-0 when facing the Raiders on the road.
  • The teams most recently played last season in Columbus with Ohio State losing in four sets (25-17, 21-25, 18-25, 15-25).
  • The last time the teams played at Wright State was September 4, 2001 with the Buckeyes earning a sweep (30-23, 30-24, 30-12).
