Sunday’s Free Family Fun Day and Back-to-School Giveaway features food, games, giveaways and special guests
TOLEDO, Ohio — Soul City Boxing Gym is hosting a free Family Fun Day and Back-to-School Giveaway on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at its facility on Junction Avenue.
The event, called “A Celebration of Soul,” aims to support more than 300 Toledo families with back-to-school essentials and family-friendly activities. Soul City is partnering with TUFF, RAIN, For Their Sake, The Collective and Empowered Excellence to host the event.
The day will feature the giveaway of 300 backpacks stocked with hygiene products. Free haircuts, T-shirts and food will also be provided to attendees. Children can enjoy a petting zoo, dunk tank, bumper balls and other interactive games.
At 2 p.m., Soul City co-founder RoShawn Jones is scheduled to speak about the gym’s mission and its role in the community. Former Olympian and professional boxer Charles Conwell, representing Team TUFF, is also expected to attend along with other surprise guests.
Organizers say the event is a way to celebrate and uplift the local community as families prepare for the new school year.
