Samsung is rumored to be introducing its first trifold phone at Unpacked on July 9, the Galaxy G Fold, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, cheaper foldables, and the Galaxy Watch 8 series. But it may have already leaked the trifold design.
Teardown specialist AssembleDebug spotted the changes hidden in the code of the latest One UI 8 update, Android Authority reports.
One UI 8’s NFC animations show a design for a trifold handset, which is different from devices such as the Huawei Mate XT. However, the design in One UI 8 appears to be similar to the concept device Samsung showed off under the name “Flex G” at MWC 2025, pictured above.

If the animations reflect the final design, it will mean the device has two inward-folding hinges bringing together the two outer screens on top of the inner element. Think of the two extra displays unfolding like wings to create a larger landscape display when unfurled.
These animations don’t give an idea of the size or dimensions to expect. If the device from MWC 2025 is anything to go by, it’ll probably resemble a medium-sized tablet when unfolded.

The animations show a similar camera array to the Galaxy Z Fold series on the left-hand rear of the phone. On the reverse, there’s a small punch-hole on the far right of the screen for selfie videos when the device is unfolded.
Huawei beat Samsung to market with a trifold phone in other areas of the world, but Samsung may be the first brand ready to sell one in the US. The big question is whether there is enough demand for this sort of foldable phone.
