TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Toledo City Council is considering renewing the city’s contract with ShotSpotter.
ShotSpotter is the technology that detects a gunshot and sends an alert to police or EMS if needed.
Only the north and east Toledo sectors remain and they are set to be done next month.
Members are discussing legislation on Tuesday to spend about $214,000 from the general fund to keep ShotSpotter going there, but with a smaller gunshot detection radius.
Council could vote on the matter as early as May 20.
