TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A Toledo man is suffering from life-threatening burns after his mobile home went up in flames, Wednesday.
The trailer that belonged to 66-year-old, Reed Marsh, is completely destroyed, according to family.
Reed Marsh’s son, Jeremy, said he’s on a long road to recovery, turning to the community for support.
“When I realized it was his trailer, I lost it,” Jeremy Marsh said, recalling the moments he found out.
Jeremy Marsh said his dad was burned from the waist down. He said his dad was transported to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, also recovering from a stroke and heart issues from the trauma.
“35 percent of his body is third-degree burns,” Jeremy Marsh said. “They can’t do anything about it until they figure out what’s going on with his brain and his heart, so it’s just kind of waiting in limbo.”
It was Reed Marsh’s neighbor, Jacob who heroically pulled him from the burning trailer. The family credits him for saving Reed Marsh’s life.
“He was already on fire from the waist down and screaming for help and he probably would’ve gotten the smoke inhalation in minutes,” Jeremy Marsh said.
The family has put together a GoFundMe to raise money to help him build back his life after he gets out of the hospital.
“He has no clothes, no food, no shelter,” Jeremy Marsh said.
The family remains hopeful as Reed recovers in the hospital. Jeremy said the next 24 to 48 hours will tell them a lot.
