TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women’s basketball team announced the addition of six-foot guard Ella Weaver for the 2023-24 season, head coach Tricia Cullop announced today.

Weaver, a Ruckersville, Va. native who recently wrapped a successful prep career at William Monroe High School, will have four years of eligibility remaining.

“We are thrilled to have Ella Weaver join our Rocket Family,” Cullop said. “She is a great athlete who is very versatile and capable of scoring at all three levels. She plays with a high motor and has a tremendous work ethic. It was also a joy to get to know Ella and her family through the recruiting process, as we believe she is a great fit for our chemistry and culture.”

Weaver finished her high school career ranking fifth all-time in career scoring at William Monroe High School with 1,213 points. She averaged a double-double as a senior in 2022-23, averaging 20.0 PPG and 10.4 RPG while adding 3.0 APG and 2.1 SPG. Weaver compiled one triple-double and 15 double-doubles this past season.

Following her senior season, Weaver was named the Northwestern District Co-Player of the Year and earned all-state, all-region, and all-district honors for her outstanding play.

“Ella has been a leader on and off the court at William Monroe High School for the last four years and set the tone each day through her spirit, play, and commitment,” said Carrie Woods, Weaver’s high school coach at William Monroe. “She is a fierce competitor, relentless in all she does, and her passion makes everyone around her better. She has been a joy to coach and serve in her time at William Monroe.”

Weaver is now one of four newcomers set to join the Rockets in 2023-24. She will join Macey Fegan (Bentley, Mich.), Cadence Dykstra (Grand Rapids, Mich.), and Emmi Rinat (Zafririm, Israel/Rhode Island).
