TOLEDO, Ohio – Seven members of the Toledo women’s basketball team have been named Academic All-MAC, the league office announced on Thursday.
Jessica Cook, Yaniah Curry, Nan Garcia, Khera Goss, Jayda Jansen, Sammi Mikonowicz, and Sophia Wiard were the Rockets to earn the academic honor.
Curry and Wiard are now three-time Academic All-MAC honorees, which ties the program record for most career Academic All-MAC honors with nine others. Garcia, Goss, Jansen, and Mikonowicz are now two-time winners, and Cook is being honored for the first time in her career.
Mikonowicz was one of just seven women’s basketball student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
