CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Senior CJ van Wyk sits in the Top 10 following Monday’s opening two rounds at Virginia’s Lewis Chitengwa Memorial. Van Wyk shot under par in each round and is tied for 10th place at three-under par 139 to lead the Toledo men’s golf team to a ninth-place showing at the par-71, 7,116-yard Birdwood Golf Club.
Van Wyk led the Rockets with eight birdies after tallying four in each round. He also registered an eagle on the par-four, 349-yard 16th hole in Round 2.
Senior Jamie Butler is tied for 21st place at one-under par after pacing UT with a two-under par 69 this morning. He was at two-under through eight holes in the afternoon before finishing with a one-over par 72.
No. 11 Florida State is leading the 12-team field at 27-under par, 16 shots in front of the No. 13-ranked Cavaliers and 17 ahead of No. 27 Northwestern. The Seminoles’ Luke Clanton leads all individuals at 10-under par and is the No. 3 player in the nation.
The Rockets’ tee times for tomorrow’s third and final round will begin off the No. 10 tee at 9:40 a.m.
