Redshirt freshman Julian Sayin opened with the second team but also played with the spring drills first unit. He completed 17 of 24 passes on the day for 175 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown to Purdue transfer tight end Max Klare.
Third-year sophomore Lincoln Kienholz took the first snaps with the Scarlet and finished the afternoon 12 of 18 for 158 yards and two touchdowns.
True freshman Tavien St. Clair was 11 of 15 for 116 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
True freshman Bo Jackson led all rushers with 88 yards off 13 carries, including a short touchdown rush. Redshirt freshman Sam Williams-Dixon had 64 yards rushing and caught touchdown pass from Kienholz, and West Virginia transfer C.J. Donaldson had 35 yards off four carries and scored one touchdown.
Redshirt freshman Mylan Graham had four receptions for 104 yards, including a 51-yard touchdown catch and run from Kienholz. Jeremiah Smith and true freshmen tight end Nate Roberts and wide receiver Quincy Porter each had four receptions. True frosh Phillip Bell caught a touchdown pass from St. Clair.
Kicker Jayden Fielding was perfect on the afternoon with three field goals, including two 43-yarders, and five extra points.
The Gray scored points off a spring-game modified scoring system combination of two forced turnovers – interceptions by true freshman Faheem Delane and senior Brenten “Inky” Jones – and three-and-outs.
