Ohio State’s Team Effort Earns 90-33 Win Against Bellarmine

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The RV/25 Ohio State women’s basketball team (2-0) beat out Bellarmine (1-2) by a 90-33 margin inside Value City Arena in Thursday night’s season ticket holder appreciation game.  
 
Ohio State built a 26-0 lead after one quarter of play, keeping its opponent scoreless in a quarter for the first time in program history. The Buckeyes increased their lead to 46-10 at halftime, limiting their opponents to less than 20 points in a half for the first time since facing Stanford last season (Dec. 20, 2024). The Buckeyes used a 27-14 third quarter to extend the lead to 73-24 and finished with a 17-9 fourth quarter to cap a 90-33 win.
 
All 11 Ohio State players contributed points and rebounds. Chance Gray was the first in the game to reach double figures, doing so less than two minutes into the second quarter and finishing with 14 points. Jaloni Cambridge joined Gray in double figures in the first half on her way to 18 total points. Ava Watson (11) and Dasha Biriuk (15) also scored in double figures, Biriuk for the first time in her collegiate career.
 
Quarter-by-Quarter Recap

  • Q1: For the first time in program history, the Buckeyes held an opponent scoreless for an entire quarter. Ohio State built a 26-0 lead after 10 minutes as seven Buckeyes scored points in the opening frame. The Buckeye defense forced nine turnovers and recorded four steals.
  • Q2: Bellarmine got onto the scoreboard with one made free throw on its opening possession of the second quarter. Ohio State responded with the next six points and ended the quarter on a 10-3 run to extend its lead to 46-10 at halftime.
  • Q3: J. Cambridge scored the quarter’s first six points and the Buckeyes began the quarter with a 14-2 run to increase their lead to 60-12 with 5:44 to play in the quarter. Ohio State capped a 27-14 third quarter with an 11-4 run to lead by a 73-24 margin.
  • Q4: The defenses started strong in the fourth quarter before Ohio State scored eight unanswered points in the span of a minute. Biriuk scored the final five points of the game to wrap up a 90-33 win.
