Crunching the Numbers

  • With two victories at Penn State, Ohio State has won or split four its five Big Ten series thus far for a record of 8-5. It has outscored conference opponents 123-93.
  • The Buckeye offense has a .352 team batting average with the nation’s best home run count (105) and slugging percentage (.719). Ohio State leads the conference in those two categories, as well as RBI, total runs scored and walks.
  • Ohio State has scored a nation’s-leading 379 runs this season and has done so with consistency: It has recorded double-digit hits in over one-third on its games so far.
  • Morgan Frye hit .438 in this most recent road trip – games at Pitt and Penn State – to complement her season average of .413. She’s also been a tough out; there have only been five games all year where Frye has not reached base. She is also tied for Kaitlyn Farley for most stolen bases on the team, recording six in seven attempts.
  • Junior Skylar Limon has continued to improve this season, batting .360, which is tied for third best on the team. Limon has reached base in 17 of the last 18 games and hit safely in 14 of 17.
  • The Ohio State pitching staff is made up of three freshmen and one junior. Lorin Boutte earned her team-leading 15th win of the season on Sunday with a complete-game effort at Penn State. She’s also logged 106.1 innings this season.

History Book Buckeyes

  • In Jasmyn Burns’ sophomore season, she has swung herself into the record books. Her 20 home runs this year tied Lilli Piper’s 2018 mark for most in a single season, and her 29 career home runs have her tied for 10th all time.
  • Burns also recorded her 100th career RBI during the Penn State series, 63 of which have come in the 2025 season alone.
  • Senior Reagan Milliken’s three home runs in the series finale with Penn State made her only the third Buckeye to ever do so.
  • Both Milliken and Burns are approaching RBI history as well. Stacy Roth’s single season RBI record sits at 66, with Burns (63) and Milliken (62) both within reach of breaking.
  • Senior Kami Kortokrax is just four hits away from 200 in her career. She ranks 14th all-time among Buckeye hitters in that category, behind Megan Schwab’s 207. Her 31 career home runs are good for ninth all time.

Scouting the Competition

  • The defending Atlantic 10 champions, Dayton enters Wednesday’s game with a 20-13 record overall and 5-0 mark at home.
  • Emma Schutter leads the offense with an average of .385 and 42 hits. That average is good for fourth-best in the Atlantic 10. ??
  • Izzy Kemp leads the pitching stable in both innings (94.1) and earned run average (2.60). Her 113 strikeouts lead the conference.
  • Michigan holds a record of 31-12 and 9-4 mark in conference play following a sweep of Rutgers the last time out.
  • Four Wolverines are batting above .300, contributing to a team average of .315. Lauren Putz leads the group with a mark of .408.
  • Michigan’s defense is allowing an opponent batting average of just .215, led by pitchers Erin Hoehn (2.44 ERA) and Lauren Derkowski (2.35 ERA). Derkowski’s 117 strikeouts are tied for fifth-best in the conference.
  • Ohio State has won the last two series vs. Michigan. Last year in Ann Arbor, the Buckeyes rebounded from an opening-game loss to win the next two – 6-0 on Saturday and 2-1 on Sunday.
  • The last time the two teams played at Buckeye Field, Ohio State also won the final two games to take the series.
