Toledo City Council approves new union agreements


TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Toledo City Council on Wednesday unanimously approved deals with multiple unions. Council members voted in favor of collective bargaining agreements for Teamsters Local 20 and AFSCME Local 7.

A city spokesperson told 13 Action News that more than 700 AFSCME employees work for the City of Toledo in various departments including public utilities, transportation and public service. It’s the city’s largest labor union.

According to documentation from city council, the Teamsters deal includes a 5% base pay increase for January of 2025, a 3% increase in January 2026, and a 4% increase in January 2027, among other changes to sick time and other terms.

More than 75 city employees are part of Teamsters Local 20, working in departments like water reclamation and the division of solid waste. The council legislation said the deal includes a 4% base pay increase for January 2025, a 4% increase in 2026, and a 4% increase in January 2027, among other changes.
