Anthony Hopkins Dylan Thomas Adaptation ‘Visit To Grandpa’s’ Sells

EXCLUSIVE: WestEnd Films has secured a raft of pre-sales on A Visit to Grandpa’s, which is set to star two-time Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins (The Father) and is being directed by DJ Caruso (Mary).

Inspired by Welsh poet and author Dylan Thomas’s coming of age story, the film will “follow a young boy sent to spend a summer with his charismatic and eccentric grandfather on a remote Welsh farm. Expecting dull days and strict rules, the boy instead stumbles into a world of delightful chaos and imagination – where outrageous stories are spun, and a world of wonder, memory, and mischief unfolds.”

Distribution deals have closed in Germany and Benelux (Studiocanal), Australia & New Zealand (Kismet), Italy (Adler), Portugal (NOS), Greece (Spentzos), Bulgaria (Beta), Turkey (Mars) and airlines are with Cinesky.

Production is due to begin March 2026 in Wales. WestEnd will continue handling world sales at this week’s American Film Market.

The film reunites director Caruso and actor Hopkins after they collaborated on biblical feature Mary.

Behind the film are Welsh producer Huw Penallt Jones with Hannah Leader (Blinded By The Light) and Amory Leader (Christmas Karma). The projects is a European co-production with Adler Entertainment and U-Media.
